Scores for drums teaching
DrumScore.net provides scores for teaching contemporary music. It is assumed that a teacher will accompany the study of the sheet music. My choice of notation has therefore been made with this in mind.
The scores can be downloaded in PDF format at the bottom of each article. They indicate the names of the musicians to facilitate connections and contribute to the learner’s general knowledge.
Each article includes a link to the songs and additional information such as hyperlinks to the tracks at the time of their release as well as their live versions whenever possible.
The sheet music on DrumScore.net is licensed under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0. You can modify and redistribute them under the same conditions, citing the author. Any commercial use is prohibited, but it is of course possible to use them in class: that’s what they’re made for!
The site is hosted by its users. So if you can, please make a donation to keep DrumScore.net going.
A search engine to make your searches easier
Each score is referenced in detail. You can filter your searches by artist, tempo, style, keywords, tempo and time signature, country, and year of production.
In addition, the scores are divided into two categories corresponding to different learning situations:
- LOOP: Pattern for a piece. It is deal for working on groove while avoiding structure issues.
- VARIABLE: Piece with structure. This one is ideal for putting yourself in a situation.
This way, I believe that searching for scores allows for greater precision than with a traditional classification by level of difficulty. In fact, you can study the same piece at very different levels. For example, you can use a piece that seems to easy for an advanced student as an opportunity to work on timbre, feeling, hyper-precise timing, musical knowledge, or transcription. Similarly, a score that seems too complex can actually help the students assess their skills and set goals in a long learning process. Finally they can study only an excerpt of the score.
